The University of Zurich was founded in 1833, though its origins stretch back as far as 1525 and the days of protestant reformer Ulrich Zwingli. Today the University enjoys international renown as a place of education and research. Two thousand lecturers in 140 special institutes provide the broadest range of subjects and courses available from any Swiss seat of higher education. With 24,000 students and 1,900 graduates every year, Zurich is also Switzerland’s largest university. The University provides academic services, works with the private sector and considers itself part of a national and global network for the acquisition and dissemination of knowledge.
Zurich’s international reputation is based on groundbreaking research, particularly in molecular biology, brain research and anthropology, and on the work of the University Hospital and Veterinary Hospital.
The University’s researchers, lecturers and students benefit from the infrastructure that Zurich provides as a center of teaching and research. Apart from its own institutions, the University offers its members access to archive collections, libraries and the facilities of the Federal Institute of Technology (ETH), as well as to the city’s private institutions. Nine museums and collections, covering subjects from anthropology to zoology, constitute yet another valuable academic resource.

Nagoya University, since its foundation in 1939 as one of seven imperial universities, has developed as one of the nation’s leading universities. As a result of having established our basic philosophy in teaching and research, we have created a unique system of education and research, achieved a high level of research results, and played a significant role in fostering many of Japan’s current and future leaders. This success is attributed to the liberal and vivid character created in Nagoya University as the latest-established imperial university where education and research are free from traditional rigid thoughts.

Regarding exchange with overseas research institutions, Nagoya University endeavors to actively promote international academic exchange on the basis of academic exchange agreements that have been concluded with over 190 institutions of higher education. Academic Strengths

RAE 2008 confirms that more than 90 per cent of research at The University of Nottingham is of international quality, with almost 60 per cent of all research defined as 'world-leading' or 'internationally excellent'.

In 27 subject areas, the University features in the UK Top Ten, with 14 in the Top Five.

39 subjects have been awarded the highest ratings for teaching quality of between 22 and 24 (the maximum) in national independent assessments conducted by the Quality Assurance Agency.

The University of Nottingham has been awarded the Times Higher Education Institution Entrepreneurial University of the Year 2008 and the Times Higher Education Institution of the Year 2006 award.


We have been awarded 2 Nobel Prizes in Medicine and Economics.

Located just 15 minutes from downtown Atlanta in the tree-lined suburban neighborhood of Druid Hills, Emory University is positioned along the Clifton Corridor, which also includes the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the American Cancer Society.

Emory University is home to nine major academic divisions, numerous centers for advanced study, and a host of prestigious affiliated institutions. In addition to Emory College, the University encompasses a graduate school of arts and sciences; professional schools of medicine, theology, law, nursing, public health, and business; and Oxford College, a two-year undergraduate division on the original campus of Emory in Oxford, Ga.

Emory was founded at Oxford by the Methodist Church in 1836. Led by President James W. Wagner, the University has 11,300 students and 2,500 faculty members who represent all regions of the United States and more than 100 foreign nations.

University College Dublin

For over 150 years, University College Dublin (UCD) has produced graduates of remarkable distinction including famous surgeons, architects, entrepreneurs and five of Ireland’s Taoisigh (Prime Ministers). Perhaps the best known of its graduates is the writer James Joyce who completed his BA at the university. Established in 1854, University College Dublin (UCD) has played a key role in the history of the modern Irish State, and today it plays a leading part in shaping Ireland’s future. As Ireland forges a new identity through relationships with international partners, the university is adopting an increasingly international outlook.

To accommodate the university’s phenomenal growth during the 1960s and 1970s, UCD relocated from its original location on St Stephen's Green in Dublin city centre to a 132 hectare campus at Belfield, 4 km from the city centre. The university still maintains one of its original buildings on St Stephen’s Green, and there is also a campus facility at Blackrock, County Dublin where the UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate School of Business is located.

UCD has recently published a new campus development plan to chart the physical evolution of the Belfield campus for the next decade. This plan includes a vision for world class architecture, a more than ten-fold increase in the campus boundary woodland and network of pedestrian walkways, and a transformation of the academic infrastructure to reflect the ambitions of a leading European university.

More than 25% of the UCD student population is engaged in graduate research and scholarship. Each of the university’s five colleges has its own dedicated graduate school with the explicit task of enhancing doctoral and post-doctoral training to match the Irish Government’s strategy of establishing Ireland as a premier source of 4th level education and research. University College Dublin is committed to maintaining a high level of research activity, to commercialising intellectual property arising from academic research, and to further enhancing its collaborative links with industry and commerce, and with educational and research institutions across the globe.

UCD was the first Irish university to establish a Vice-President post dedicated to supporting the health and welfare of its student population. To facilitate increasing levels of e-learning, increasing number of resources to support learning and research are electronically available on and off campus. The UCD Bowl - a rugby and soccer stadium with a seating capacity of 1,500, and a national hockey stadium are among the sporting facilities available to students, staff and the wider Dublin community.
